In a new set of collages, Sarah Kabot continues her exploration of the complexities of information received through traditional printed newspapers. Collecting Sunday papers from both the New York Times and the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Kabot cuts away sections of journalistic images from one-page revealing counterpart images or text on the next visible page. This spontaneous combination results in a collapsing of space between events, geographic locations, and cultures. Marked only by date, the viewer has the experience of piecing together contexts and content, decoding world events through dual images. The collages are original works as well as an integral preparatory step for larger digital prints some of which will be presented later in 2021.
